Impacts of climate change on rice production in Cambodia

The purpose of the report is to provide knowledge to NGO Forum on Cambodia to support their advocacy work. The report analyzes the impacts of climate change (floods and droughts) on rice production in the three selected provinces (Takeo, Kampong Speu and Prey Veng) and reports on the strategies rice farming households are using to adapt to climate change and to mitigate their greenhouse gas emissions. It discusses the ability of farmers to prepare for, respond to, and to recover from floods and droughts. The report also gives recommendations to ministries and departments working on agriculture so that they can immediately improve their service provision to rice farmers. The report calls for the establishment of long-term strategic development plans to help rice farmers better adapt to the impacts of climate change at both the provincial and national levels.
