In 2000, Altra Mirin Kiri Cambodia company signed an agreement to explore precious gems in Senchao area, Samlot district, Battambang province. The exploration took over a land area of 4 km2. The result of the first exploration showed that this area has no potential to find precious gems.Thus, the company requested the Prime Minister to relocate the land concession to another area with the same size of land in Samlot district, Battambang province. The spatial coordinating of this new location are mentioned in the letter. The company agreed to cover pits of mines and re-vegetation as well as cleaning the environment at the current location once leaving exploration site. Before starting further explorations in the new area, the company has to develop a master plan and signs a contract with the Ministry of Environment on environmental protection. |
