Artisanal Small-scale Gold Mining (ASGM) in Battambang and Preah Vihear Provinces Investigation Report 2012

This investigation report was commissioned by Development and Partnership in Action (DPA) together with DPA-Extractive Industry Social and Environmental Impact (EISEI) Network Steering Committee Members. Methodology of investigation is using specific questionnaires developed for target local commune leaders, ASGM workers in groups and individually, local residents in groups and individually, and women and children. The study was conducted in Phnom Proek district, Battambang province and Rovieng district, Preah Vihear province. The key findings of the study are including Land use and government mining licenses; Environmental, Social and Health Issues; Governance and Financial Issues; Violence towards Artisanal Miners; Forced Eviction Case; and the conflict case between Kuy indigenous communities and Cambodian WS Mining Industry Holding Ltd, a mining company conducted exploration in Rovieng district, Preah Vihear province. |
