Opposition to proposed Stung Cheay Areng Dam

The site for proposed 260-MW Stung Cheay Areng Dam is located in Central Cardamom Protected Forest. China-based Sinohydro Resources is contracted by the Cambodian government for the construction of the dam. According to a researcher of the Princeton University-based international affair, If the dam is established, adverse effect is expected to flood local villages, affects indigenous people by inundate their lands and affects the natural habitat of endangered wildlife of the Siamese crocodile. |

NGO Forum on Cambodia: List of Development Projects

The information consisted of project number with code number (EIA-001 - EIA-071); owner of project; date of EIA conducted - between 2007-2013; name of EIA; project location; list of company conducted EIA study; and name of development project with specific locations to be carried out nationwide. These are feasibility studies of various development projects at respective provinces. The projects consisted of hydro-power plant, resort & island development, and agro-industry. There were 72 companies registered and were rewarded projects where the location lied from coastal area - south west to highland region - north-east area.
Interestingly, all projects had gone through EIA study by some companies - KCC, Power Engineering Consulting, CES, Green Consultancy, SAWAC Consultants for Development, Team Consulting Engineering and Management, Phanitra Development, CAS, Creative Green Design, CIS, Green Environment Group, and Cambodian Environment. |

Development of energy sector in Cambodia

The presentation slides draw a general picture of Cambodia's energy sector and its development plan. Sources of the energy come from hydropower, coal, natural gas, crude oil and imported electricity. By 2030, at least 70% of residence across the country will have an access to electricity. |
