Grant Opportunities for Bachelor Research Support
Open Development Cambodia (ODC) is an ‘open data’ website, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. The open data movement is based on the simple premise that data collected for public interest should be publicly available without restrictions. Information or data in the public domain should be freely available to everyone to use and republish as they wish. Open Development Cambodia does not promote any particular perspective, agenda or bias other than to provide objective information about Cambodia and its development. ODC has been promoting open data and any activities that encourage the use and provision of open data.
In 2018, ODC, together with the East West Management Institute (EWMI), signed an MoU with the Prek Leap National Institute of Agriculture (NIA) for academic and research cooperation. One of the activities binding the three parties under the MoU is to ‘support joint projects or research with the faculties or students in the future based on its merits and availability of funds’. That said, ODC is pleased to offer thesis research grants to students conducting their final year research thesis.
ODC will consider applications from students conducting research related to the following topics:
- Open data in agriculture
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Land and natural resource management
*** Students are advised to use some of ODC’s resources for the research.
To be eligible for the research grants, students should:
- Be enrolled in the last year of their Bachelor’s Degree at the NIA.
- Be willing/able to conduct their final year research thesis.
- Focus their research around the areas suggested above.
The research grant will be awarded to FOUR STUDENTS on the amount of 1,600,000 Riels (USD 400) per student. Teachers who will be mentoring the selected students will also be awarded 200,000 Riles (USD 50). The funding is to be used for research expendable supplies, field activities and other material and expenses required to carry out the research.
