Study visit on Chinese investment impacts in Cambodia
In early of August 2019, Open Development Cambodia (ODC) has successfully hosted a group of young Chinese research students to do study visit on Chinese investment impacts in Cambodia. This research program is organized by the China House, a social enterprise that sends young people from China to do oversea research projects, with the goal of training young Chinese professionals to serve as a bridge between Chinese overseas communities and the rest of the world.
On 14 August 2019, after a week of field survey and observation in the Chinese development areas in Preah Sihanouk and Koh Kong provinces, ODC had organized a full-day sharing workshop at our office by inviting some of our stakeholders, who are experts on Chinese investment research in Cambodia, to listen and share comment on the research findings presented by the young students.
ODC would like to thank Mr. Tek Vannara, Executive Director of the NGO Forum on Cambodia, for giving an overview on Existing Mechanism for Cambodia CSO-NGO in Engaging with Chinese Investment and also to ODC’s board member, Ms. Sin Kimsean, for taking part in sharing her knowledge with students and giving feedback on their research finding. We also thank to our partner, Cambodian Center for Independent Media (CCIM), for taken part this sharing workshop, and ODC team for sharing on Data Visualization for the students to make use in their report design.
