Press release: Cambodia continues to pursue an independent rule-based foreign policy that upholds its core interests, guarantees sovereignty and peace and boosts economic ties
On 1 February 2023, at the meeting of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia on “Cambodia’s Foreign Policy in the New Context of World Order” at the National Assembly, His Excellency PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, emphasized that “Cambodia continues to pursue an independent rule-based foreign policy that upholds its core interests, guarantees sovereignty and peace, and boosts economic ties.”
Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn underlined a set of foreign policy to which the Kingdom will continue to adhere, in light of the fierce competition and uncertainties in the international relations. Among them are the upholding of Cambodia’s core interests in compliance with the Constitution; a proactive diplomacy to guarantee sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence, peace and socio-economic development; implementation of an independent rule-based foreign policy in line with the objectives and principles of the Charters of the United Nations and ASEAN; and the strengthening of economic ties with both existing and new partners.
