CHRC files urgent appeal with OHCHR over the Thai military’s disturbing sounds at the Cambodia-Thailand border

On 11 October 2025, the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) submitted an appeal to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva, Switzerland. The appeal concerned the Thai military’s use of high-pitched noise, described as haunting sounds resembling a wailing ghost, against Cambodian citizens in Chouk Chey and Prey Chan villages overnight. The CHRC also invited the High Commissioner’s office to conduct a direct, on-site observation of the human rights violations being perpetrated by the Thai military.
