CMAA statement on recent unsubstantiated Thai allegations concerning border mine incidents
On 25 November 2025, the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) issued a statement firmly rejecting recent unsubstantiated allegations in the Thai media regarding newly laid mines, emphasizing that no official joint verification or technical evidence has been presented through the agreed-upon bilateral mechanisms. Cambodia dismisses unverified claims, such as those involving a soldier’s phone, calling instead for an immediate joint investigation with neutral international experts to ensure an impartial assessment. Furthermore, the CMAA regrets Thailand’s unilateral media release, stating that it undermines trust and complicates cross-border cooperation.
