On 31 March 2026, Royal Embassy of Cambodia to Japan issued a press release on Ambassador-Designate Sounry pays courtesy call on Secretary-General of Japan–Cambodia parliamentary friendship league.

The release stated that H.E. CHUM Sounry met with H.E. KIUCHI Minoru to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and bilateral cooperation, while also discussing Cambodia–Japan strategic partnership and the Cambodia–Thailand border situation.
