Press release: Permanent Secretary of State EAT Sophea briefs diplomatic corps on the latest development of the Cambodia-Thai border situation.
On 14 November 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) issued a press release summarizing that Her Excellency EAT Sophea, Permanent Secretary of State, briefed diplomats on the situation of the Cambodia-Thailand border. At the meeting on the afternoon of 13 November 2025, she addressed the unprovoked shooting by Thai forces on 12 November 2025, which killed one and injured three Cambodian civilians. Cambodia lodged a formal protest against the unlawful use of force, which violated sovereignty and negatively affected demarcation work. She called for an investigation with the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT). Regarding the landmine incident that injured Thai soldiers on 10 November 2025, she noted it occurred near the mine-contaminated Preah Vihear Temple area and must not derail the peace process. She rejected allegations that Cambodian forces laid new landmines and reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to the ceasefire and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
