Press release: Stung Sen was internationally recognized as a fifth Ramsar Site in Cambodia

On 06 November 2018, Ministry of Environment issued a press release announcing to the public that Stung Sen, which is the tallest and pristine seasonally flooded freshwater swamp forest of the Tonle Sap Great Lake, has been designated as a Wetland of International Importance (also known as a ‘Ramsar Site’) by the Royal Government of Cambodia and recognized by the Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands. The declaration of Cambodia’s fifth Ramsar Site was made on 2 November 2018 by Prime Ministerial Sub-Decree and the Stung Sen Ramsar Site covers 9,293 hectares of land.
