Press release: UN Women’s 16 Days of Activism campaign demands a world where technology is a force for equality – not harm
On 18 November 2025, the UN Women issued a press release highlighting that digital violence against women and girls is rapidly intensifying, while nearly half of the global female population still lacks legal protection from online abuse. The statement warns that forms of digital violence, such as harassment, doxxing, cyberstalking, and AI-generated deepfakes, are growing in scale and severity, yet legal systems in many countries have not kept pace. UN Women calls for urgent action from governments, technology companies, and civil society to strengthen laws, ensure accountability, and create safer digital environments for women and girls.
