Setting minimum wages for workers in textiles, garments and footwear for 2018
On the afternoon of 05 October 2017, the Labor Advisory Committee had conducted the 17th Meeting, at the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, to continue reviewing and discussing on the results of the tripartite technical working groups and discuss setting a minimum wage for workers in textiles, garments and footwear for 2018. After the discussion, all parties unanimously supported the figure of USD 165. According to the Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, Prime Minister Hun Sen has decided to add USD 5 on the USD 165. Thus, the minimum wage for workers in textiles, garments and footwear for 2018 amounted to USD 170 per month applying from 01 January 2018 on wards.
To facilitate cost burden of the employer, the Government will:
- Extend the validity of pending tax payments deliver profitability of the textile, footwear and bag manufacturers for the 5-year period (2018 to 2022).
- Repeal of Export Management fees at the Ministry of Commerce.
