Cambodia could lose competitive edge in bicycles: report
Cambodia could lose its competitive advantage in bicycle manufacturing and assembly, an industry source says. In a report from the Taipei Cycle Show late Wednesday, the US-based Bicycle Retailer and Industry News said Cambodia had used low wages and zero tariffs in the European Union to “snatch a chunk” of the business away from Taiwan. … Stan Day, chief executive officer of Chicago-based bicycle components maker SRAM Corp, was quoted as saying that the European Bicycle Manufacturers Association (EBMA) could file a complaint with the European Commission. … Day reportedly said that a factory in Cambodia was risky since it was capital intensive, requiring an extended supply chain and disrupting business. …
