CNRP says parliament’s first session violates constitution

The opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) criticized the first session of the National Assembly because it was held with only one party in attendance. “Citizens voted for the Cambodian People’s Party and the Cambodia National Rescue Party, but the National Assembly held its first session with only 68 lawmakers from the ruling party,” the CNRP said Monday in a statement issued after the parliamentary session. The opposition also considered the opening of the inaugural session of the National Assembly, without the attendance of its lawmakers, as a violation of the constitution. …
