Thai Firm Moves in to Build Koh Kong Power Plant

A Thai Company is conducting a feasibility study to build a coal-fired power plant in Koh Kong province and has already invested in a local firm with permission to develop the plant, according to officials and the company. In an announcement to the Thai Stock Exchange on Wednesday, Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Public Company said that it had purchased a 50 percent stake in KK Power Company, which belongs to the tycoon and CPP Senator Ly Yong Phat, for $500,000. Ratchaburi, which is part owned by the state-run Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, said in the statement it “has thoroughly studied and assessed all relevant information and risk factors ensuring that the investment is worth and had has reasonable return on investment.” …
