Hyatt Overtakes Siem Reap’s Hotel de la Paix
Hyatt Hotels Co will open its first hotel in Cambodia next year by rebranding the well-known five-star boutique resort Hotel de la Paix, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. As part of the agreement, KS Hotels and Resorts, a Thai-based firm, will retain full ownership rights of the hotel. The hotel will close on June 30 for renovation work before reopening in the first quarter of 2013 under the Hyatt brand and management, said Arthur Holliger, general manager of Hotel de la Paix. “Despite the renovations, the hotel will still keep its character overall with just one additional suite, but there will be a lot of changes to the public area, entrances,” he said, adding that renovation work worth $10 million to the cafe, restaurant, lounge and lobby will take place.
