Australia supports Cambodia’s economic recovery through the Mekong-Australia Partnership
On 18 August 2021, Australian Embassy in Cambodia issued a media release on the support of Australia towards Cambodia’s economic recovery through the Mekong-Australia Partnership. COVID-19 has caused major disruptions for Cambodia’s economic development, meaning Cambodia will need to find new sources for sustainable and inclusive growth.
Yesterday, Ambassador Pablo Kang briefed H.E Dr Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance on the new programs starting in Cambodia under the Mekong-Australia Partnership (MAP), which aim to leverage emerging opportunities and manage risks to strengthen Cambodia’s resilience and recovery from COVID-19. This includes additional support to modernise agriculture and boost the growth of the agro-processing sector by supporting the establishment of Agri-food Industrial Parks (AIPs), industrial precincts with shared agro-processing utilities.
