Press release on the conclusion of the Post-Harvest Fisheries Development Project (CAPFISH-Capture)

On 13 October 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) issued a press release on the conclusion of the EU Post-harvest Fisheries Development project (CAPFISH-Capture), which wrapped up with a lasting impact on the development of Cambodia’s fisheries sector. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), together with the Delegation of the European Union to Cambodia (EUD) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), announced the successful completion of the Post-harvest Fisheries Development project (CAPFISH-Capture). The project was held under the theme “Transforming Cambodia Fisheries for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth.” The project significantly boosted local fishery production, enhanced food safety and quality, and expanded market access.

Key achievements include certifying 22 enterprises with the Cambodia Quality Seal (CQS) and 4 with HACCP certification; strengthening positive socio-economic impact through better jobs and incomes; and promoting inclusive entrepreneurship, with 46 of the 64 supported enterprises led by women. This cooperation has helped reduce Cambodia’s reliance on imported fishery products and enhanced Cambodia’s market competitiveness. MAFF is committed to scaling the results of this project nationwide.
