Press release on the impact of Thailand’s illegal military aggression on the schooling of Cambodian children
On 9 December 2025, the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport issued a press release stating that, due to Thailand’s illegal military aggression, a total of 514 schools had closed as of 9 December 2025, affecting the education of approximately 130,000 students and the work of 4,650 teachers. The most severe impact was reported in four provinces: Preah Vihear (61 schools), Oddar Meanchey (260 schools), Banteay Meanchey (186 schools), and Pursat (5 schools). Among these, 32 schools in Oddar Meanchey province are located within 10 kilometers of the border.
