Press release on the status of electricity supply during the dry season

On 18 March 2019, the Electricite Du Cambodge (EDC) in Cambodia issued a press release to express the current status of electricity supply during the dry season. Due to the high temperature and unusual water shortage, the demand for electricity in 2019 has been rising dramatically. Therefore, EDC is not able to supply enough electricity in the whole of Cambodia. In order to solve this problem, the neighboring countries are requested to increase their electricity supplies. Consequently, Thailand will increase up to 80MW and Laos will increase 10MW. However, Cambodia still needs 13% more of electricity supply in 72 days until the beginning of the raining season. Within these periods, EDC will decrease the electricity supply in the daytime in different locations in order to maintain its supply in the night time.
