Cambodian PM says “No Tolerance” for any attempt to topple gov’t
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said Saturday that there will be “no tolerance” for those who try to overthrow the current government. “I will not allow any groups or individuals to take the country hostage and any act with the characteristics as a coup is unacceptable,” he said during the inauguration of a children organization in Kratie province. “I’d like to appeal to the voters for the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) to get ready to fight back with any activities that lack responsibilities and have the characteristics as a coup.” The premier’s warning came after the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), led by longtime opposition leader Sam Rainsy, had held a number of mass protests to demand his resignation and a re- election following the election in July last year. …
