Labor Unions agree to one time hike in wage
Around 40 Labor Unions in Cambodia have all agreed to pursue the third formula given by the Ministry of Labor, of a one time hike in minimum wage for footwear and garment factory employees in 2014. The Labor Unions agreed to pursue the hike in salary during a two-day meeting held on December 17-18. Ath thon, President of the Coalition of Cambodian Apparel Workers’s Democratic Union (C.CAWDU), said that the union leaders have chosen the one time hike in salary, and for wage talks to be held periodically depending on inflation and economic situation. … He said the unions agreed to use the Ministry of Labor’s investigation committee report to discuss with factory employers on December 24, to set wages between $157 and $177 per month. The report said that garment and footwear factory employees currently receive around $97 per month including bonuses and other allowances, and can receive an average of $149 per month for those who work over time. …
