Mfone Files Complaint With Court
The administrator charged with liquidating bankrupt mobile operator Mfone filed a complaint Tuesday with the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, requesting it to order two companies to pay money owed to Mfone after repayment negotiations apparently failed, the administrator said. Mobile payment service WING Cambodia Co. Ltd. owes Mfone $131,847, while telecommunications firm Telcotech owes $97,910, according to the complaint. “Mfone has an obligation to collect all the debts to pay creditors,” it states. Khan Sereyvuthy, a legal adviser to the administrator, Ouk Ry, said that Mfone is also demanding an additional $20,000 from Telcotech and $40,000 from WING for damages and legal fees. … Telcotech and WING are just two of four companies who still owe Mfone cash. Mobile operators Metfone and Royal Telecam International Ltd. owe a total of about $600,000. Tuesday’s complaint comes about two weeks after Mr. Sereyvuthy said Mfone’s assets were sold to Khmer Unified Network Communication Ltd. for $10 million—less than 11 percent of their estimated value.
