Ranariddh to re-enter politics with new party

Prince Norodom Ranariddh, who became first prime minister of Cambodia after the 1993 U.N.-sponsored elections, will form a new party and re-enter the political arena, according to his cabinet chief. “The prince has a plan to create a new party,” said Naranarith Anandayath, chief of Prince Ranariddh’s cabinet. The party will be called the Community of Royalist People Party, Mr. Anandayath said, adding that Prince Ranariddh, 70, felt compelled to return to politics due to the “many problems” between the ruling CPP and opposition CNRP since July’s national election. …
