Staff to Come Home After Thai Factory Brawl
Half of the of the 600 Cambodian workers at Siam International Food Co. Ltd.’s factory in Thailand are planning to return home following a mass brawl in which two workers were killed last week, a factory employee said yesterday. A Cambodian and a Burmese worker died when fighting broke out on June 4 between about 400 Burmese and 300 Cambodian staff at the seafood factory in Songkhla province. Heang Bora, an interpreter at the factory, said that half of the factory’s approximately 600 Cambodian staff were now planning to go home. “They are preparing documents and passports to repatriate,” he said. …
