Unesco Director Condemns Cambodian Journalist’s Killing

The director-general of Unesco on Thursday spoke out against the murder of journalist Hang Serei Odom in Ratanakkiri province, and called for the authorities to provide justice for the victim and his family. "I am deeply concerned by the killing of Hang Serei Odom," Irina Bokova said in a statement. ... "Crimes against media against media personnel must be brought to justice to prevent a climate of fear from constricting journalists' ability to claim their human and professional right to freedom of expression."... Hang Serei Odom's death brings to 11 the number of journalists killed in Cambodia since 1993.
