ODC meets NCDD for the second time
On the 4th of May 2018 the ODC team met representatives of the National Committee for Sub-National Democratic Development (NCDD). This meeting was second in a series of consultations and negotiations with NCDD, as both organisations have mutual goals and objectives. Here, NCDD’s intention to streamline public service delivery by means of broader decentralization and democratization aligned with ODC’s goal to provide open access to data on the country’s development issues.
Having identified ODC’s expertise in such areas as data management, graphic representation of information, NCDD expressed sincere interest in strengthening further cooperation with ODC with respect to hosting a number of workshops and seminars on successful data management, GIS mapping, social media strategy, etc. Indeed, representing one of the biggest and most reliable open data platforms in Southeast Asia, ODC possesses broad experience in these specific areas. In addition, ODC initiated an international workshop on e-governance to be mutually organized and coordinated with NCDD. This workshop intends to bring representatives of Estonian e-Governance Academy – a unique educational institution conducting workshops, consultations, and tutorials for national governments – to Cambodia and raise awareness about potential benefits of further developing e-governance initiatives in the country. Finally, the previous efforts were suggested to be accumulated and summarized in a memorandum of understanding between ODC and NCDD which is supposed to launch a new track of comprehensive cooperation in the future.
