ODC participated in Barcamp ASEAN 2017
Barcamp ASEAN 2017 took place on October 21-22, at Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The principle of the camp is to bring and gathers together the participants in Cambodia and the regional for the open exchange of knowledge, skills, and experiences on how to start business, to use technology, to study, work, and communicate.
Besides this, there are up to 65 booths from Startups showcasing their products and services of their new technology. Attendees will still have the ability to speak directly with speakers who are the startup founders, mentors & trainers, tech professional, creative designers, video & photographers, educators and students in the cities in Cambodia for the open exchange of knowledge, skills, and experiences related to Tech, Biz Startup, Creative, Entrepreneurship and Career Development. Furthermore, the participants can also find their interested topics by looking around the session board where all the information related to topic presentations stuck on, or going to BarCamp ASEAN webpage to find the topic session online.
Open Development Cambodia team was proud to be part of the event. We gave an introduction of ODC platform and how it would benefit students, researchers, investors and society as a whole, also giving the presentation on improving the public service delivery with open data to the audiences which mostly are young students from high-school, state and private universities namely Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), Royal University of Laws and Economics (RULE), University of Cambodia (UC), Norton University (NU), Cambodian Mekong University (CMU), Build Bright University (BBU), National University of Management (NUM), Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), National Institute of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Communication Technology (NIPTICT), as well as other employees from the private sectors and NGOs.
At the same time, the team had a booth set up in order to welcome and offer participants the opportunity to gain insight into our platform and Site Demo by allowing them to ask questions. We also provided to the participants some promotional materials, including ODC notebooks, stickers and T-shirts.
Through the presentation the “Public services for transportation” on Access to public service profile page, Mr. HEANG Sotheayuth, Director of Information Technology and Public Relations Department of Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia, was happy with what ODC had done with those data and information. Additionally, he has provided the Ministry’s promotional materials (posters and leaflet) of the recent Ministry’s Online Service such as Vehicle Registration, Technical Inspection, Driving License, and he hopes that citizens will access to the Ministry’s public services more easier and transparently, while the information technology is increasingly used in Cambodia.
