44 garment factory Workers Hurt in Road Traffic Accident

Forty-four garment factory workers were injured in a traffic accident yesterday morning in Svay Rieng province as they traveled to work in the back of an open truck, police said. The workers were riding in the truck when it overturned after colliding with a tractor-trailer on national Road 1 in Chantrea district, district police chief So Sithorn said. The safety of factory workers has been an issue in recent months, with much of the emphasis on workplace safety. But transportation issues are a concern as well, said Eun Tint, communications officer for the International Labor Organization's Better Factories Cambodia.
