Bearing Gifts, Chinese Heads Visit Hun Sen

A delegation of Chinese officials yesterday donated two airplanes and signed an agreement to provide Cambodia with loans for a new hydropower dam in Battambang and the renovation of two national roads. The deals were made during a meeting in Phnom Penh between He Guoqiang, a member of the Communist Party’s Standing Committee, and Prime Minister Hun Sen. Eang Sophalleth, an assistant to the prime minister, said that China would deliver two Chinese-made MA60 turboprop planes. He also said that Finance Minister Keat Chhon and Liu Liange, deputy director of the Export-Import Bank of China, signed agreements for China to provide concessional loans for the construction of a hydropower dam in Battambang province, the expansion of National Road 6 and the upgrading of National Road 44. …
