Cambodia Climbs Global Competitiveness Ranks

Cambodia climbed the rankings of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2012-2013 global competitiveness report to finish 85th out of 144 countries, an improvement of 12 places compared to the previous year. The WEF report, which was released yesterday, measured the competitiveness of each country on more than 100 indicators. Switzerland finished first while the U.S. finished seventh out of 144 countries assessed. Cambodia showed the most improvement in such areas as labor market efficiency, rising 10 places to 28th overall, and in business sophistication, rising 16 places to finish 74th. Cambodia also finished 33rd in foreign direct investment and technology transfers, 44th in venture capital opportunity and 47th in ease of obtaining loans. ...
