Halal food exports could boost trade

Cambodia could attract an increasing number of Malaysian investors interested in food production and global export if moves to create a halal food recognition body were implemented, Malaysian ambassador Mond Tahir Nasruddin said yesterday. Officials were working together to establish the halal food product recognition institution, Nasruddin said. A halal food recognition body was on the agenda, but officials had not yet made a decision on whether to establish it by royal decree or sub-decree or by prakas because officials had to understand the issue first, Mao Thora, secretary of state at the Ministry of Commerce, said. ...
