Nearly 50 civil society groups back activists
In a joint statement, 48 civil society organizations have urged the Appeal Court to overturn a ruling by the Koh Kong Provincial Court in a case against three Mother Nature activists. The statement says the three activists are not criminals,but brave environmental protectors who had contributed enormously to protect natural resources for the benefit of Cambodians, it said. “If the government’s recent commitment to reform sand dredging activity is strictly implemented, these three young environmental activists must be acquitted and should be commended and protected rather than being illegally harassed,” it said. ...
