ODA Projects Signed with Japan
Agreements for two Japanese official development assistance (ODA) projects for Cambodia were recently signed at two separate ceremonies… One ODA project amounts to US $53.3 million loan for the West Tonle Sap Irrigation and Drainage Rehabilitation and Improvement Project. The other project involves a US $700,000 grant for the improvement of educational equipment for the Department of Geo-resources and Geotechnical Engineering of the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC). The ODA loan agreement is to be used for rehabilitation and construction of the irrigation facilities in six impoverished agricultural areas in three provinces west of the Tonle Sap Lake: Battambang, Pursat and Kampong Chhnang, Keat Chhon told reporters at the Aug 23 signing ceremony… According to the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia, the Government of Japan has provided financial assistance from 1992-2010 amounting to approximately US $1,760.22 million under Japan’s ODA bilateral grant aid program.
