Ratanakkiri Clean Water Facility to Open in May

Ratanakkirri province’s first privately owned water treatment facility will begin to supply clean drinking water to thousands of households in Banlung City on May 1, but residents will have to pay a premium for its use, officials said yesterday. … The $1.7 million facility being built by Tai Seng Rubber –which also owns a land concession for a rubber plantation in the province- broke ground in Banlung in November 2012 and will produce 3,600 cubic meters of clean water every day to more than 4,000 households through 66km of piping. … The city’s current water system can only supply 630 cubic meters each day to 518 homes, despite the overall demand in Banlung for 1, 350 cubic meters of water. …
