Cambodia's Muslim community hit back on Friday at claims made in the media this week by Thailand's army chief Prayuth Chanocha that members of the Cham minority group were joining the insurgency that has raged in Thailand's southern provinces since 2004. Speaking at a press conference in Phnom Penh's Russei Keo district organized by the Highest Council for Islamic Religious Affairs in Cambodia, Labor Ministry Secretary of State Othman Hassan, who is Cham himself, accused Thailand of making "false allegations" against Cambodia's Muslim population. ... ..."We only travel through Thailand...to find jobs for a good life, and we have never held such a sinful idea like this," [he said.]...
