Joint statement: With no will to amend, LANGO must be repealed
On 10 February 2020, the Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR) together with the 99 undersigned communities and civil society groups released a joint statement saying the government is unwilling to have the Law on Association and Non-governmental Organisations (LANGO) amended and also to urge the Royal Government of Cambodia to immediately repeal the Law. The civil society groups also stressed that the LANGO law only serves to deter, intimidate and restrict civil society, which has documented frequent and sustained surveillance and intimidation.
