On 11 September 2026, Council for the Development of Cambodia issued a press release on the signing ceremony of the facility agreement for the “Funan Techo Integrated Water Resources Management Project” between China Exim Bank and Funan Techo Coastal-Inland Waterways Company.
Implemented by a private investment company under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, this landmark project is a true game changer for Cambodia. It will connect the inland waterway network to the sea, reduce logistics costs, and enhance competitiveness in the logistics sector. It will also create a new “economic corridor” and serve as a vibrant economic artery, supporting the development of industrial zones, logistics hubs, agricultural processing, satellite cities, and tourism along the waterway in the decades ahead.
