Announcement on caution for scams under the image of “watch videos to get money”
On 14 August 2026, Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) issued an announcement on caution for scams under the image of “Watch Videos to Get Money”.
The public is advised to be extra cautious of advertisements on Facebook, TikTok and other social media platforms which claim that you can get money just by watching videos or following instructions. Scammers can use these advertisements to entice users to click on links, join groups, contact accounts, or follow instructions by entering bank account information to receive money. The scammers will then instruct the victim to download or install malware that can take control of certain functions on the user’s phone or computer and steal personal information, such as bank account information, OTP codes, PINs, and passwords.
