On 24 May 2026, Ministry of Health issued a press release on protection from COVID-19, Novel Coronavirus NB.1.8.1.

The Ministry would like to inform the public that recently, several countries around the world have experienced an increase in the transmission of COVID-19, Novel Coronavirus NB.1.8.1, especially in the Western Pacific region, including the People’s Republic of China, Singapore, and Hong Kong, which are currently experiencing circulation and spread of the virus.
