On 5 December 2025, the Department of Land Management, Urban Planning, Construction, and Cadastre of Kampong Thom Province issued a statement clarifying a social media report regarding land clearing in Prasat Sambour district. The department explained that the clearing is part of the Land Allocation for Social and Economic Development Phase III (LASED III) project, which aims to provide social land concessions to 376 prioritized families selected through a lucky draw on 4 December 2025. The project involves preparing infrastructure and dividing land plots for both residential and agricultural use in Koul and Tum Ring communes, aiming to support local livelihoods and economic development.
