Public notice: NBC warning on fraudulent activities and scams using the bank’s name and image
On 14 November 2025, the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) issued a public notice to warn the public against rising fraudulent activities. NBC highlighted that criminals are using the bank’s name, logo, and images of its leadership to spread fake information on social media, thereby cheating people out of their property. Common scams include impersonating relatives or bank staff to request money transfers, offering fake prizes/jobs that require advance payments, or persuading individuals to sell their bank accounts for a high fee. The NBC strongly urged the public to be highly vigilant, avoiding clicking on unverified links or investment platforms, and never transferring money, providing personal details, or selling bank accounts to others to prevent financial loss and involvement in illegal acts. The NBC advises reporting any attempted deception immediately to the relevant authorities.
