A US diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks shows that Thailand feared Cambodia gaining military support from Vietnam over clashes between the two neighboring kingdoms about the disputed Preah Vihear temple. Thailand was also prepared to invoke a treaty with the USA that requires the US to support Thailand militarily. The cable also shows Thailand’s attempts at verifying claims that Cambodia had received 19 fighter jets from Vietnam.
