Interior Ministry instructs provincial officials to urgently report any instances in which activities carried out by any NGOs or grassroots associations without prior notification
On 10 October 2017, The Ministry of Interior released a public announcement written on 02 October 2017 and signed by H.E. Sar Kheng, Minister of Interior. The objective of the announcement is focused on activities carried out by the association and local NGOs, referred to Laws on Association and Non-Government Organizations. The Ministry of Interior has instructed as the following:
- Associations and NGOs wishing to conduct activities in the territory of a specific city or province have to inform the Ministry of Interior about the nature of activity or directly inform the administration within three days before the activity starts.
- Provincial Administration and the relevant competent authorities must take immediate action to shutdown any local associations and non-governmental organizations who act without being legally registered at the Ministry, and the local associations and NGOs that have been decided to deleted from the interior list or inactive, and remains active. In this case, the competent authorities must take the legal action and report to the Minister of Interior.
