On 16 September 2026, the Ministry of Information issued a press release on the organization of the “Zero Fake News Media Forum Awards 2026” under the theme “combating fake news and promoting information integrity in the Mekong-Lancang region”
The purpose of this forum is to raise public awareness about the risks and impacts of fake news and irresponsible information sharing. The forum will also focus on sharing good practices on fact-checking, promoting media and digital literacy, responding to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in generating fake news, and broadcasting information during crises, as well as strengthening regional cooperation to prevent the cross-border spread of misinformation, in line with the slogans “Verify Before You Share” and “Together for Information Integrity.”
