Unions budge from $180 wage

Unions decided to lower their demand for $179.60 per month as the new minimum wage for the garment, footwear and textile industries in 2017, telling employers yesterday that they were dropping the figure by $2 – matching the $2 employers added to their figure earlier this week. Before tripartite negotiations started with the government, unions set their figure at $179.60, while the Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia (GMAC) – representing employers – pegged it at $144.20, only $4 more than the current minimum wage. ...
