Ministry of Environment bans wild orchid trade in the protected areas

On 10 July 2020, the Ministry of Environment publishes a public notice on the ban of wild orchid trade, which are actively collecting in protected areas due to the buzz on social media about high-end purchases. The ministry added that collecting wild orchid from the protected area, either for trading or for any purpose, was a violation of​ “Law on Natural Protected Areas” on the Article 59, point 3, 4 and Article 61, point 4. The Ministry will cooperate with the relevant authorities and sub-national administrations to take preventive and repressive measures based on the most stringent legal procedures from the date of this notification.
