Civil society groups condemn recent arrest of two in a land dispute, call for their release
A group of civil society organization has condemned recent arrest of two citizens who were involved in a land dispute with the Khun Sear Import Export company, and called on the government to release them and ensure the safety of their family. In a joint statement Thursday, the group said that the police arrested Mr. Ly Srea Kheng and his daughter on Tuesday morning and afternoon after they refused to vacate a plot of land in the Boeung Kok I area of Phnom Penh’s Tuol Kork district, which they have inhabited since 1982. The family has suffered death threats, violent attacks and intimidation as a result. …
